The
Art Guild has experienced a bevy of activity this Spring on many fronts. We were invited to exhibit in a new venue, the First
Street Gallery and had a wonderful time at he North Beaches ArtWalk.
And now approaching soon
is our Summer Show, Feast of Flowers hosted by the Village Gallery. This show promises to be very
exciting as our members have been venturing out into so many new mediums with great success.
Mixed
Cargo, our next art show will present a new kind of challenge for us - a mixed media exhibition to appear
at Jaxport locations and the Downtown Library.
The Art Guild has had a huge presence at the Clay
County Fair which has grown year by year under the direction a few dedicated members. Other community programs have flourished
such as the childrens’ art sessions at the Fleming Island Library and the Middleburg Art Festival. We brought art to
the community at several local festivals. And we held our very own art festival, Art&About, a great success with an immensely
positive response by the community. Already people are looking forward to next year.
We’ve
begun another Art Guild year with new officers and committee chairmen. Many thanks to all those who have served this past
year. It’s all those individual parts that make the whole so strong. May I encourage those of you who have not been
very involved to find something that appeals to you. The Guild needs help in many areas and great joy can be found in working
with people who share the same interests.
Here’s hoping for a wonderfully
creative
summer for you all,
